 Jongvolwassenen met een autismespectrumstoornis (ASS) staan voor een grote uitdaging. Ze worden voor keuzes gesteld, komen vaak in een nieuwe omgeving terecht en er wordt een grotere mate van zelfstandigheid verwacht. Individuele begeleiding helpt hen om zich hierop voor te bereiden. Een eerste stap daarbij is nagaan aan welke vaardigheden gewerkt kan worden.

Daarom werd de ADAPTI ontwikkeld, een zelfrapporteringsinstrument dat de adaptieve vaardigheden van jongvolwassenen met ASS in kaart brengt. De uitkomst is een uniek profiel op vlak van sociale interacties, inlevingsvermogen, communicatie, flexibiliteit, planning en organisatie, computervaardigheden, omgaan met interesses en zelfredzaamheid. Het profiel biedt aanknopingspunten voor een gerichte begeleiding.

De vragenlijst is ontwikkeld voor schoolgaande of studerende jongvolwassenen met ASS van 16 tot en met 25 jaar, met (boven)gemiddelde cognitieve mogelijkheden. Het invullen neemt slechts 15 minuten in beslag.

About the author

Dr. Inge Schietecatte, psycholoog, werkte binnen Code Thomas More aan een onderzoeksproject over autismespectrumstoornissen (ASS) in de jongvolwassenheid. Door klinische ervaring en eerder onderzoek bouwde ze expertise op over ASS. Ze is nu beleidsmedewerker bij KOCA vzw.

Prof. dr. Ilse Noens, orthopedagoog, is hoofddocent - diensthoofd van de onderzoekseenheid Gezins- en Orthopedagogiek van KU Leuven. Ze heeft diverse publicaties op haar naam staan over onder andere ASS bij kinderen en volwassenen.


Caroline Bolckmans, psycholoog, werkt als projectmedewerker binnen Code Thomas More. Daar staat zij voornamelijk in voor de diagnostiek en begeleiding bij ontwikkelingsstoornissen.


Dr. Wim Tops, psycholoog en neurolinguïst, is universitair docent aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen bij de Onderzoeksgroep Neurolinguïstiek. Hij werkte binnen Code Thomas More aan een onderzoeksproject over ASS in de jongvolwassenheid.


Prof. dr. Dieter Baeyens, psycholoog, is hoofddocent aan de onderzoekseenheid Gezins- en Orthopedagogiek van KU Leuven. In zijn onderzoeksactiviteiten staan ADHD en ASS in de jongvolwassenheid centraal. Hij was voorheen actief als onderzoekscoördinator van Code Thomas More.
